Have a humidifier active to effectively prevent your sinuses from drying out while you combat your allergies. Keep in mind that using humidifier is a double-edged sword as excessive moisture can lead to mold growth. Dust mites can develop greater strength and be more a problem with humidifiers. Dust mite allergies are fairly common, which doesn’t help matters. In your home, you need a perfect balance of humidity and most experts recommend 50% humidity levels. To help keep your sinuses moist and the dust mites and mold down to a minimum is achieved with the recommended 50% humidity.

Hypoallergenic Flooring

Also, it recommended that you remove the carpets from your home if suffer from chronic allergies. Many indoor allergens are contained in the carpet fibers. Carpets often promote dust mites, pet dander and even mold. It is best for those with allergies, if possible, to invest in primarily wood or tile floors. Be sure to regularly have your carpets steam cleaned to remove those allergens from your carpets if you can’t part with your carpet for any reason. To remove pet dander, dust, and dust mites, be sure to vacuum regularly.

Wash Dogs & Bedding Weekly

You should bathe pets, especially if you have dog and cats, regularly. Depending on how often your pets are outside will dictate how often you need to bathe the pets, but weekly is recommended. However, keep in mind, too often can be bad for the pet’s skin and coat. With routine baths, the allergies should significantly be cut down.
When it comes to fighting allergies to dust mites, washing your bedding is also important. Thriving in bed sheets and mattresses are dust mites and other allergens. Wash your bedding once a week to avoid a buildup of allergens. Make sure you wash it with hot water when you wash the bedding. Heat kills dust mites and makes the bedding allergen free.
